Yes, Pakistani passport holders can apply for several digital nomad visas, as long as their income comes from an employer or clients outside the country they move to. As of October 2026, the six options below range from USD 1,500 a month in income (Brazil) to EUR 42,000 a year (Malta), and none of the official pages we checked excludes Pakistani nationals.

What a digital nomad visa is, and what it is not

A digital nomad visa lets you live in a country while you keep working remotely for an employer or clients based elsewhere. It is not a local job visa, as the official rules show:

  • Indonesia prohibits E33G holders from receiving wages from Indonesian individuals or companies.
  • Spain allows employees to work only for companies outside Spain, while self employed applicants may do up to 20 percent of their work for Spanish companies.
  • Brazil states that the visa cannot be requested if you work for a company in Brazil.
  • Malta excludes people contracted by a foreign company to serve its Maltese subsidiary.
  • Malaysia is slightly more flexible: freelancers work with foreign clients and may also serve Malaysian clients.

Where a country asks for a foreign employer or clients, a company registered in Pakistan counts as foreign, but consulates check that the business is real and that your income meets the threshold.

Country by country details

Malaysia DE Rantau Nomad Pass

MDEC, Malaysia's digital economy agency, runs this pass. Tech talent (software, cloud, cybersecurity, AI, data and digital marketing roles) needs at least USD 24,000 a year. Non tech talent (managers, finance, sales, HR, legal and consulting roles) needs at least USD 60,000 a year.

The pass lasts 3 to 12 months and can be renewed once for 12 more. It is open to all nationalities except Israel, and you can apply from outside Malaysia. The processing fee of RM 1,080 per applicant and RM 540 per dependant includes 8% tax and is not refunded if you are refused. The immigration pass fee is RM 90 for every three months. If MDEC acts as your sponsor, its FAQ lists a refundable personal bond of RM 750 for Pakistani nationals.

Expect to show your contract, three months of payslips or invoices and bank statements, and health insurance covering Malaysia. Since 1 August 2026, MDEC no longer accepts appeals against rejections, and its website currently warns of processing delays.

Indonesia E33G remote worker visa

Indonesia's immigration department lists these requirements for the E33G visa:

  • bank records showing salary or income of at least USD 60,000 a year
  • an employment contract with a company established outside Indonesia
  • a personal bank statement for the last 3 months with at least USD 2,000
  • a passport valid for at least 6 months, a recent photo, a CV and a travel itinerary

The stay is 1 year and can be extended online. The government fee is IDR 7,000,000 for one year, and no sponsor is needed. You apply on the official eVisa website, processing takes five working days after payment, and the visa must be used within 90 days.

Spain international teleworking visa

The Spanish Embassy in Islamabad handles this visa for applicants in Pakistan. Its page sets these rules:

  • income of 200% of the Spanish minimum wage (SMI), plus 75% for the first family member and 25% for each additional one
  • employees work only for companies outside Spain, with at least three months of service and the employer's express permission to work remotely
  • the company must have existed for at least one year
  • a degree, or at least three years of professional experience in similar work
  • health insurance from an insurer authorised in Spain

Spain's 2026 minimum wage is EUR 1,221 a month paid 14 times a year (EUR 17,094 a year) under Royal Decree 126/2026. Doubling the monthly payment gives EUR 2,442, which is the figure the Spanish Consulate General in Washington lists. Doubling the yearly total and spreading it over 12 months gives about EUR 2,850, which is the safer amount to plan for. The Islamabad page gives only the percentage, so confirm the amount with the embassy.

You apply in person by appointment, requested by email, and apply for a foreigner identity number (NIE) at the same time. The visa lasts up to one year, and the embassy normally decides within 10 days unless it asks for more documents or an interview.

Malta Nomad Residence Permit

Residency Malta accepts non EU nationals who work remotely for an employer registered abroad, are partners or shareholders in a foreign company, or freelance for clients abroad. You need gross income of at least EUR 42,000 a year, health insurance covering the EU and the UK, a rental or purchase agreement in Malta and a police certificate.

The application fee is EUR 300 per person, not refundable, and the residence card costs EUR 100 per person. The permit lasts one year and can be renewed three times, up to four years. You apply online, and processing is expected to take 30 working days. Pakistan is not on Malta's list of ineligible nationalities, but the FAQ notes that Pakistani nationals need an entry visa, and an airport transit visa when changing planes in an EU airport.

Italy digital nomad and remote worker visa

Italy's visa is for highly qualified people. Official embassy guidance asks for:

  • a degree of at least three years, five years of comparable professional experience, or, for ICT managers and specialists, three years of experience in the last seven
  • annual income of at least three times the minimum level for exemption from healthcare charges, which the Italian Embassy in Singapore puts at about EUR 8,500, so roughly EUR 25,500 a year
  • health insurance valid in Italy, a registered rental contract or property deed, and at least six months of experience in remote work
  • for employees, a salary not below the Italian collective agreement rate and not below the national average gross salary

Apply at least 30 days before travel. Decisions can take up to 90 days for remote workers and 120 days for digital nomads, and you must request a residence permit within eight working days of arriving. In Pakistan, Italian visa applications go through the embassy's appointed visa centres, listed on the Italian Embassy in Islamabad's website.

Brazil VITEM XIV digital nomad visa

Brazil's VITEM XIV is for people who can work for a foreign employer from Brazil using information technology. You need income of at least USD 1,500 a month from a foreign source, or USD 18,000 in available bank funds, plus health insurance and a recent police certificate. The stay is up to one year, and you register with Brazil's Federal Police after arrival (the Istanbul consulate's page says within 30 days).

The Brazilian Embassy in Islamabad's visa page currently covers visit and family reunion visas only, so contact its consular section to confirm how it handles VITEM XIV applications.

Before you apply

Prepare an employer letter or client contracts confirming remote work, recent payslips and bank statements, health insurance and police certificates, translated and legalised where asked. Living abroad for months can change your tax position, so speak to a qualified tax adviser.

If you want to settle permanently rather than live abroad for a year or two, compare these visas with Canada Express Entry from Pakistan or the Australia PR points test. Frequently asked questions

Which digital nomad visa has the lowest income requirement for Pakistanis?

Of the six we compared, Brazil's VITEM XIV asks for the lowest income: USD 1,500 a month, or USD 18,000 in available funds. Malaysia's DE Rantau pass asks for USD 24,000 a year for tech roles. The right choice also depends on fees, length of stay and entry visa rules.

Can I get the Malaysia digital nomad visa from Pakistan?

Yes. MDEC says the DE Rantau pass is open to all nationalities except Israel, and you can apply from outside Malaysia. You need USD 24,000 a year for tech roles or USD 60,000 for non tech roles. If your nationality needs a visa for Malaysia, you will also need an eVISA or a visa with reference before entering.

What income do I need for the Spain digital nomad visa?

The Spanish Embassy in Islamabad asks for 200% of the Spanish minimum wage. For 2026 that is EUR 2,442 a month on the Spanish Consulate General in Washington's calculation, or about EUR 2,850 if the yearly minimum wage is spread over 12 months, plus extra for each family member. Plan for the higher figure and confirm it with the embassy.

What are the E33G visa requirements?

Indonesia asks for proof of income of at least USD 60,000 a year, an employment contract with a company established outside Indonesia, a bank statement for the last 3 months showing at least USD 2,000, a passport valid for 6 months, a photo, a CV and an itinerary. The visa allows a one year stay.

Can I work for a Pakistani company on a digital nomad visa?

Generally yes, because the rules ask for employers or clients outside the host country, and a Pakistani company qualifies. You must still meet the income threshold and prove the company is real; Spain, for example, wants at least one year of company activity. You cannot take a local job in the host country.
