To get a France visit visa from Pakistan, fill in your application on France-Visas, request an appointment through AEG, then attend an interview and give biometrics at the French Embassy in Islamabad, which handles every visa application in Pakistan. As of October 2026 the fee is EUR 90, about PKR 28,920, and a decision takes at least 15 to 20 days after the interview.

Who handles France visit visas in Pakistan?

France-Visas, the French government's official visa site, says visa applications submitted in Pakistan are examined by the French Embassy in Islamabad, and only the Embassy can decide them. The interview and biometrics can only be done at the Embassy. The Consulate General of France in Karachi cannot receive visa applications or issue visas.

That means every applicant, whether from Karachi, Peshawar or Lahore, attends the Embassy in Islamabad. AEG handles appointment requests and passport returns through its 10 offices, but the application itself is lodged at the Embassy's visa section.

France must be your main destination. If France is your only stop, or you will spend most of your nights there, apply to France. Our Schengen visa guide explains the main destination rule, the 90 days in any 180 day limit and the EES border checks.

A Schengen visit visa never allows you to work in France. Via Nova does not arrange jobs, job offers or work visas.

How do you apply for a France visit visa from Pakistan, step by step?

  1. Check your case on the Visa Wizard. France-Visas asks your nationality, residence, length of stay and purpose, then lists your documents and the fee.
  2. Fill in the application online. Create a France-Visas account, complete the form, then print, date and sign it.
  3. Request an appointment through AEG. The list of AEG's 10 offices is on its website. As of 15 October 2026, France-Visas says AEG offices open Monday to Thursday and Saturday, 9:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 17:00, and Friday 9:00 to 12:30 and 14:30 to 17:00. AEG charges two rates, one for its Islamabad office and one for offices outside Islamabad.
  4. Pay the visa fee. It is collected in Pakistani rupees, at the exact amount at the chancellery rate, before your interview and biometrics.
  5. Attend the Embassy. The visa section receives applicants by appointment, Monday to Thursday, 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Everyone over 12 gives a photo and fingerprints. Only the applicant may enter. Minors must come with a parent or guardian. Mobile phones are not allowed.
  6. Track and collect. You can follow your application on France-Visas, and AEG returns your passport.

Do not request an appointment until you have every document. France-Visas asks applicants to bring originals plus A4 photocopies, assembled in the exact order of the checklist, and all letters and documents in French or English. You cannot apply more than six months before your departure date.

France tourist visa documents checklist for Pakistani applicants

France's official checklist comes from the France-Visas Visa Wizard. On 15 October 2026, for a Pakistani passport holder living in Pakistan and travelling to France for tourism or a family visit, it listed:

DocumentWhat France-Visas asks for
PassportIssued less than 10 years ago, two blank pages, valid at least three months after you leave the Schengen area. Include the identity page and every page with visas or stamps
PhotosTwo ID photographs meeting the France-Visas photo rules
Travel planReservation of an organised trip, or any document describing your planned programme
Return ticketReservation of a return ticket or your travel itinerary
Job and tiesEmployment contract, a work certificate stating the duration, dates and purpose of the trip, and tax returns for the previous two years, or other proof of your ties in Pakistan
FundsBank statements for the last six months, salary slips for the last three months, and a pension certificate if retired
Accommodation (tourists)Hotel reservation, lease agreement or proof of private accommodation
Accommodation (family visits)An attestation d'accueil from your host, plus proof of your family relationship with them
Travel health insuranceValid for all Schengen states, from a company on the approved list linked by the Embassy

Pakistan specific documents sit alongside this. The EU's common list of supporting documents for Pakistan, which applies to Schengen consulates in Pakistan, asks for a CNIC copy, a Family Registration Certificate (FRC) in English from NADRA, an NTN certificate and FBR acknowledgements of tax returns for the last two years. Government employees also need an NOC from their department showing the dates of the trip.

What is the attestation d'accueil for a family visit to France?

The attestation d'accueil is France's official hosting certificate. If you will stay with a relative or friend in France, your host applies for it, not you. According to Service Public, the French government's information site (checked 21 October 2025):

  • your host requests it at the town hall (mairie) where you will stay, usually by appointment, and must attend in person;
  • it costs EUR 30, paid in tax stamps (timbres fiscaux);
  • the town hall must validate it before you apply, and your host then sends you the original;
  • you attach the original to your visa application;
  • your travel insurance, covering at least EUR 30,000, can be bought by you or by your host.

Make sure the dates and address on the attestation match your application and itinerary. Our guide to the invitation letter for a visit visa explains what officers look for in any host's support.

How much money do you need for a France visit visa?

Service Public sets daily amounts for a short stay in France, checked 12 October 2025:

Your accommodationFunds needed per day
No hotel booking or hosting certificateEUR 120
Hotel reservationEUR 65
Attestation d'accueil from a hostEUR 32.50

Say you plan a 10 day trip to Paris with a hotel booking: that means showing at least EUR 650 for daily costs, plus your return travel. Officers also look at whether your bank statements, salary slips and tax returns tell the same story. A large unexplained deposit just before you apply raises questions.

How much is the France visa fee and how long does it take?

The short stay visa fee is EUR 90 for adults as of October 2026. On 15 October 2026 the France-Visas Visa Wizard showed it as about PKR 28,920, and the rupee amount moves with the exchange rate. The fee is not refunded if the visa is refused. AEG's own service charge is separate, and France-Visas says a service provider's fee cannot exceed EUR 45 per application.

For Pakistan, France-Visas says it takes 15 to 20 days minimum to get a short stay visa after the interview at the Embassy, and an average of 15 days. It warns this is only indicative, because Schengen consultations, extra checks or technical problems can add time. The wait for an AEG appointment comes on top, so apply well before your trip.

What happens if your France visit visa is refused?

French refusals must give reasons. France-Visas sets out the appeal route for a short stay visa refused from 1 January 2023:

  • Appeal within 30 days. Write to the Deputy Director of Visas, BP 83609, 44036 Nantes Cedex 01, by post. The appeal must be reasoned, written in French and signed.
  • This step comes first. You cannot take a refusal to the administrative court until you have made this prior appeal.
  • No answer counts as refusal. If you receive no decision within two months of applying, the application counts as implicitly refused, and you can appeal that too.

You can also submit a new application. Read our guide to visit visa refusal reasons for Pakistani applicants first, and fix each reason on the refusal form before you reapply.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I submit a France visa application in Pakistan?

At the French Embassy in Islamabad, by appointment, as of October 2026. You request the appointment through AEG, which has 10 offices listed on its website, but the interview and biometrics happen only at the Embassy. The Consulate General of France in Karachi does not accept visa applications, so applicants from Sindh also travel to Islamabad.

How long does a France visit visa take from Pakistan?

France-Visas says a short stay visa takes 15 to 20 days minimum after your interview at the Embassy in Islamabad, with an average of 15 days. Schengen consultations or extra checks can add time, and the wait for an AEG appointment comes before that. You can apply up to six months before your departure date.

How much bank balance is required for a France visit visa from Pakistan?

France's official daily amounts are EUR 120 without a hotel booking or hosting certificate, EUR 65 with a hotel reservation and EUR 32.50 with an attestation d'accueil. The Visa Wizard also asks for six months of bank statements, three months of salary slips and tax returns for the previous two years, so your income must support the balance.

What is an attestation d'accueil and who gets it?

It is the official hosting certificate for a private or family visit to France. Your host requests it at the town hall where you will stay, attends in person and pays EUR 30 in tax stamps. Once validated, the host sends you the original, which you attach to your visa application with proof of your relationship.

Can I appeal a France visa refusal from Pakistan?

Yes. For a short stay visa, you appeal in writing to the Deputy Director of Visas, BP 83609, 44036 Nantes Cedex 01, within 30 days. The appeal must be reasoned, written in French and signed, and it is required before any court case. You can also reapply with a stronger file.
