To get a Spain visit visa from Pakistan, book an appointment and apply in person to the Embassy of Spain in Islamabad, at its consular office or its visa application centre, between six months and 15 days before you travel. The EU visa fee is EUR 90 as of October 2026, and the Embassy decides within 15 calendar days, which can be extended to 45.
Who handles Spain visit visas in Pakistan?
The Embassy of Spain in Islamabad is Spain's only mission in Pakistan listed by the EU's consular directory. Its Schengen visa page says it accepts applications from people living in its consular district who are travelling to Spain as their only or main destination.
You lodge the application in person, by appointment, at the consular office or at a visa application centre where one is available. As of 15 October 2026, the Embassy's official page does not name an outside provider or list centre cities. Book only through the appointment link on the Embassy's Schengen visa page, and ignore booking offers that do not come from it. For visa questions, the Embassy lists a consular email address, emb.islamabad.sc@maec.es.
Spain must be your main destination. If Spain is your only stop, or you will spend most of your nights there, apply to Spain. Our Schengen visa guide explains the main destination rule, the 90 days in any 180 day limit and the EES border checks.
A Schengen visit visa never allows you to work in Spain. Via Nova does not arrange jobs, job offers or work visas.
How do you apply for a Spain visit visa from Pakistan?
- Fix your dates. Apply between six months and 15 days before you travel.
- Fill in the form. Download the bilingual Spanish and English Schengen application form from the Embassy page, complete it and sign it. A parent signs for a minor.
- Book your appointment. Use the appointment link on the Embassy's Schengen visa page.
- Apply in person. Bring your form, photo, passport and fee. The Embassy only accepts applications that include these four, then checks the rest of your file.
- Be ready for more. The consular office can ask for extra documents or call you for an interview.
- Track your file. Use the receipt code you are given to check your status on the Spanish Foreign Ministry's tracking site.

What is a carta de invitación for a family visit to Spain?
Spain's Ministry of the Interior accepts two kinds of proof of accommodation for a tourist or private visit: a document from a hotel or other lodging, or a carta de invitación (letter of invitation) from a private person. The ministry is clear about its limits. The letter only proves that real accommodation is available to you, and it never replaces the other entry requirements. It should also say whether your host is covering all or part of your living costs.
The Spanish National Police issue the carta de invitación. Your host requests it in person at the police station for their home address. The host can be a Spanish citizen, an EU citizen or a foreigner legally resident in Spain, and pays the official fee using form 790, code 012. Ask your host to send you the issued letter in good time to submit with your application. Our guide to the invitation letter for a visit visa explains what officers check in any host's support.
How much money do you need for a Spain visit visa?
Spain sets a minimum by law. The daily amount is 10% of Spain's gross minimum wage per person, with a floor of 90% of that wage, whatever the length of your stay. As of 15 October 2026, the Ministry of the Interior lists:
- EUR 121.10 per person per day, from 1 January 2026;
- a minimum of EUR 1,098.90 per person, however short the trip.
Days are counted from your entry date to the exit date on your return ticket, both included. Say you plan a 12 day trip alone: 12 days at EUR 121.10 comes to EUR 1,453.20. For a 7 day trip, the minimum of EUR 1,098.90 applies instead.
The Embassy's page on conditions for entry still shows the 2020 figures of EUR 90 a day and EUR 810 in total, so use the Interior Ministry's current amounts. At the border, officers can ask to see these funds. If you show a credit card, the ministry says it must come with an account statement or an updated bank book, and it does not accept bank letters or internet bank statements for this. Our guide to bank statements for a visit visa explains how to show your money clearly.
How much is the Spain visa fee and how long does it take?
The EU fee for a short stay Schengen visa is EUR 90 for adults and EUR 45 for children aged 6 to 11, in force since 11 June 2024. Children under 6 pay nothing. On 15 October 2026 the Embassy of Spain's page still listed the older EUR 80 and EUR 40, so confirm the amount when you book.
The Embassy says it decides within 15 calendar days, counted from the day after you apply. This can stretch to 45 days if it asks for an interview or more documents, and some nationalities need consultation with central authorities, which can take longer. The wait for an appointment comes on top.
What happens if your Spain visit visa is refused?
The Embassy notifies a refusal in writing, with the grounds. Its Schengen visa page gives two routes:
- Reconsideration. Appeal to the same consular office within one month, counted from the day after you receive the refusal.
- Judicial review. File a case at the High Court of Justice of Madrid within two months, counted from the day after you receive the refusal, or the rejection of your reconsideration appeal.
You can also apply again with a stronger file. Read our guide to visit visa refusal reasons for Pakistani applicants and fix each reason on the form first.
